25, born in Anna, graduated from
LESTER, GARY JOE 25, Plano, S/Sgt. US MARINE CORPS, Helicopter Crew Chief serving onboard the carrier, USS Guadalcanal. Killed, along with four others, when his helicopter, from the USS Guadalcanal, went down in the North Sea off the coast of Denmark, 14 September, 1982, while participating in NATO exercises. All hands were lost at sea. His body, and those of the three other Marines and one Sailor onboard, were not recovered. A memorial marker stands at Arlington National Cemetery in S/Sgt. Lester's honor.
JOYCE, JAMES CASEY
24, Plano, Sgt. US ARMY, B Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment,
out of Fort Benning, Georgia. Killed in action as he attempted
to save the life of one of his fellow soldiers, 3 Oct. 1993. The story of the mission is told in the book and movie "Black Hawk Down." Buried at Arlington National Cemetery

BOARD, CODY A. 19, McKinney, PFC, 2009 graduate of
McKinney North High School, killed in action near Mirwais, Afghanistan, on 4
October, 2010. Cody,
an Army Ranger, was killed by an enemy improvised explosive device while serving with 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
